Mr. & Mrs. S.P. Keifer spent the holidays at Smithville.
John Fox has returned to Columbus after a week's vacation.
The Misses Shanibarger resume their studies at Vermillion Institute this week, as also does Byron Vail.
Mrs. S.A. Gray has just returned from a visit in Union County and is now with her son, John.
Mrs. Julia Funk has reached Florida in safety, making the trip from Mansfield to Orange County, in just 40 hours.
The young men of this vicinity have organized a debating club at Excelsior hall schoolhouse. It is one of the most promising features of the day, and its prospects are of the most flattering nature, having 19 charter members. With Charles Blust in the chair and James Culler as secretary it is prospering and in a healthy condition. It meets with closed doors.
Miss Martha Culler and brother, Aaron, have been spending vacation at home. They will return to Wittenberg to their respective duties this week.
Clara Syler is visiting in Wayne County.
Williard Culler and sister, Alma, are visiting in Michigan. They expect to be home by Friday, Jan. 7.
Abner Whittenmire and Will were in Mansfield Friday trying the sleighing.
An oyster supper at E.F. Blust's on New Years eve was highly enjoyed by about fifty young people.
The Rev. S.P. Kiefer began a series of meeting at Mifflin, Jan. 2.
John Gray was in Lucas Monday on business.
James Byers, of Loudonville, visited his parents over the holidays.
Crawford Byers will stay on the Peterson Farm as they have decided to make no change.
