Jacob Cahn

Has a large store, 90 by 20 feet, well filled with a good stock of goods and of a good quality.  For many years, nearly twenty, he has entertained an enviable reputation among purchasers, and he, to-day, holds them.  His store being large, admits of many goods, which he has filled.  He has two clerks in the large room and engages in all, ten persons.  His store is stocked with ready-made clothing;  with hats, caps, and furnishing goods of all kinds, gloves, handkerchiefs, sachels, trunks;  a full line of piece goods, consisting of fine cassimeres, cloths and beavers.  His room is in the Boffenmyer Block, east of the McNulty House.

E.G. Rosenthall

The first to introduce ready-made clothing as an entirety, came to us in 1878.  He began business on Oct. 20, the same year, and has by fair dealing obtained a good reputation as a successful merchant.  His store is in Mrs. Deem's Block, and is 100x21 feet, with an upstairs room for trunks &c.  Since that time he has adopted the merchant tailoring system.  Being one of eight firms who purchase their goods in a bulk, he claims to buy so cheap that he can give the best bargains in the market.  He is ably seconded by his sons, Abe and Julius, and the customer is treated with due respect and attention.

Z. Greenwald

No man in need of clothes, wants an introduction to this firm, as everybody knows Zach.  He has been in continuous business here for 28 years, and during nearly all of that time has been in the same room.  His building is 100x22, with counting room in the rear.  He has a full line of ready-made clothing, hats, caps, gents' furnishing goods, &c.  At the present time he does not deal in merchant tailoring, preferring to engage exclusively in the ready-made trade.

Freer & Jones

This old and substantial firm is now offering superior inducements to their large and increasing patronage.  Mr. Jones of the firm, has long been in the clothing and gents' furnishing business, and is possessed of superior taste in selecting salable goods.  Their store room 100x18 feet is large and fully stocked.  Their collections of fine goods are of the best and of a great quantity.  They sell hosiery, gloves, handkerchiefs, scarfs, hats and caps, ready-made clothing and make a specialty of merchant tailoring.  In their employ are seven men and they are given steady employment.  DeHart is the boss of the cutting department and is always on hand to give you "fits".
