Last Saturday extra No.56 on the Erie, west bound, killed two cows east of Blackfork.  As the same train passed through the cut west of the Pavonia depot it struck the section handcar which was carrying seven men.  All the section men jumped just before the collision except Alvin Osbun, who sustained severe injuries, among which are a broken leg, bruised thighs and battered side.

Foreman William Kyle, Thomas Leathers, Garret Blue, Frank Neely and William Snyder were all badly bruised, Roy Kyle being the only one to escape unscratched.

Dr. McCullough, the company's physician, was called from Mansfield and assisted Dr. LeBarre of Pavonia, in dressing the injuries of the wounded men.  A peculiar fact is that the handcar did not leave the track after being hit.
