tastefully decorated with flowers and trailing vines which reflected great
credit on the hostess while the dinner quite rivaled Delmonico's best.

We clip from the Topeka Daily Capital the
following notice of an old Ashland boy, a son of Matthew Clugston, Esq.:
Wednesday, the 10th. of December, 1879, proved a great day for weddings, in our
capital city, as will be seen by the various notices, yesterday and today, and
several of Kansas' prominent citizens united their lives and fortunes for good
and all. Last evening, at the home of the fair bride, was performed a
ceremony in Bishop Vail's impressive manner, which united in matrimony John M. Clugston,
Esq., one of our most prominent, enterprising and upright business men, and Miss
Alice Colcher, one of the sweetest of Topeka's many sweet singers, whose
reputation has gone abroad over the whole state. The wedding was a quiet
one, but very pleasant and propitious. The residence which will be Mr.
& Mrs. Clugston's future home, was ready "swept and garnished" and
the happy couple go at once to housekeeping -- the sensible way. Only
relatives were present at the ceremony, and no gift-making was indulged in, but
the groom presented the bride with a handsome diamond ring. The elegant
dress worn by the bride was of wine-colored silk, trimmed with wine-colored
velvet, and a hat to match. Their pleasant, cozy home is at 226 Harrison
Street, where, the cards announce they will be "at home" after the
10th. -- As re-printed from the Topeka Daily Capital.
At the house of the bride's father, Dec. 17,
1879, by Rev. John Kelly, Mr. George Buchan and Miss Martha J. Leistensnider,
both of Clear Creek Township.
