The residence of Mrs. Alice Ebersole, on West Main Street, in our village was destroyed by fire on Friday night. The house was burned to the ground and practically all of the household goods were consumed in the flames. Mrs. Ebersole, who is a widow, carried some insurance. Mrs. Ebersole saved herself by making her escape through a window of the burning house. She was in her night clothes. She gave the alarm of fire and the neighbors soon came to her aid. The alarm was sounded throughout the village and the citizens arrived with buckets and fire extinguishers. They did all that could be done, but the fire has such a start that the house could not be saved. The citizens had all they could do to save the residence, formerly owned by Mrs. M. B. Snyder, now occupied by Glenn Crawford; the residence of Mrs. Hugh Murray and also the barns of Mrs. Ebersole and Mrs. Murray, besides other out buildings. Mrs. Alice Ebersole wishes to thank the neighbors of the village of Nova who rendered such valuable services during the burning of her residence.
