Redd, Louisa - Mrs. Louisa Redd one of Loudonville's most highly respected ladies, passed away at her late home on South Water street on last Saturday morning after an extended illness. Louisa Reinhardt, daughter of Jacob and Katherine Reinhardt, was born near Loudonville, August 19th, 1839. She was the youngest of six children. But with her death only one remains of this family, Mrs. Mary Weikert, of North Spring St. On August 20th, 1857 she was united in marriage at Wooster, to Mr. J. F. Redd. To this union three children were born: James Arthur, Charles Melvin and Cora B. The husband and two sons preceded her to the grave. Early in life she was catechized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After her marriage to Mr. Redd, with her husband she united with the Methodist church of Loudonville, and thru all the years she has remained a loyal member and devout Christian. For twenty-five years she taught a class in the Sunday school. Always a great lover of the Bible, she read it prayerfully until its great truths became a part of her life and faith - and as she wrote on the back page of one of her Bibles: "The Kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness and fear and joy in the Holy Ghost." She endeavored to so live that the influence of her Godly life in the home, church and among those who knew her was such that all came to honor and revere her. On Saturday morning, January 5th, 1918 she quietly slipped away from her earthly temple in answer to that call she had longed to hear and of which she beautifully wrote in the following lines found in here Bible: [scripture omitted] She was age 78 years and 4 months and 16 days. She leaves to mourn her departure, one daughter, Mrs. Cora B. Horn, and granddaughter and two great grandchildren of the home together with many other relatives and a host of friends. [scripture omitted] Funeral services were conducted at her late home with Rev. R. F. Whitehurst in charge, Tuesday afternoon, January 8th, at 1:30 o'clock. Interment in the Loudonville cemetery. Roseborough, Nancy Carpenter -- Mrs. Nancy Carpenter Roseborough, daughter of Robert and Mary Carpenter, was born April 18th, 1835, and died June 14th, 1913, aged 78 years, 1 month and 26 days. Mrs. Rosborough lived all her long and useful life within the confines of Ashland county. On February 3rd, 1853, she was united in marriage with George Roseborough. To this union were born eight children, six of whom are living, two having died in infancy. Those living are her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Beachler, and her sons, Berton, John, Eli, Frank and Wilbur Roseborough. In June 1873 Mrs. Roseborough was baptized and recieved into the Loudonville Brethren church by her pastor, Elder Morgan Workman. Thus for forty years she has led a faithful and consistent Christian life, loyal to her Master and to the church of her choice. Mrs. Roseborough was of a quiet, calm disposition, a good neighbor and a conscientious wife and mother. Her husband preceded her in death about nine years since, but she seemed to look forward with the clear calm of untroubled faith to their heavenly reunion. Many times in her last illness did she express the desire to go to that home where all weary ones find unfailing rest, and in the night-time, at last, the kind angel of release, at Jesus bidding, laid his hand upon the tired heart and stilled it forever. She lifted the eyes of the spirit up to the face of her Savior and the Peace that passeth understanding settled upon the calm countenance. Beside her six children, Mrs. Roseborough leaves to keep her memory alive twenty-three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, five brothers, two sisters and a host of other relatives and friends. Her life's day is done, The long day of life, With its joy and its sorrow, The night-fall has darkened apace, Which knows not on earth a tomorrow. Even so, it is well, For the day is for toil, Without joy of release, But when even-tide falleth around, The word of the Master is - Peace! Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. I. Heistand, of Smithville, assisted by Rev. C. M. Culler, of Loudonville, were held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., at the Bethesda church. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rosen, Sadie -- Miss Sadie Rosen, a young girl, got off the Baltimore & Ohio train at 6:50 o'clock, Monday evening, and after taking a cab at the depot, died of hemorrhage of the lungs before she could be conveyed to her friends. The sad and unusual occurrence created a good deal of a stir in the north side especially after the remains had been conveyed to Niman's undertaking rooms. Miss Rosen is the daughter of Joseph Rosen, who is employed by Rusk Bros. Rosen boards at Ryland's on East Second Street. The family formerly resided near Hayesville. The girl's mother died of consumption about one year ago and after the family had removed to this city. The daughter, Sadie, is 16 years of age, and has been afflicted with consumption for some time. It was known that the girl's death was only a matter of a short time. About six weeks ago she went to North Baltimore to visit an uncle and his family. During the time she was at North Baltimore, she was under the care of a physician. A few days ago she expressed herself to the effect that she had not long to live and that she would like to get back to Mansfield before the end came. She was not able to travel alone and accordingly yesterday afternoon Miss Rosen's cousin, J.A. Jeffers, of North Baltimore, brought her home. Upon leaving the train at the B.&O. depot the girl was placed in a cab, but before it started away from the depot the hemorrhage began. She was quickly taken to Dr. Stevens' office near by, but died within five minutes. The remains were taken to Niman's undertaking rooms in the cab. It required some time to locate the father of the dead girl, but he was found about 8 o'clock. The girl has a sister named Miss Libbie Rosen. Sadie Rosen at one time was employed at Hautzenroeder Homberger's factory. As the father and daughters had been boarding and had no place to take the remains they were allowed to remain at Niman's. Coroner Baughman viewed the remains of the dead girl, but decided the cause of death was evident and there was no need of an inquest. The remains were taken to Hayesville this afternoon for burial. Ruffcorn, Rebecca (Proudfit) - The sad news came Sunday of the death of Mrs. William RUFFCORN at her home in Weldon, after an illness of about a month. The funeral took place Mondayafternoon, and she was buried at Weldon. The many friends of the family at Garden Grove, where they formerly lived, deeply sympathize with the sorrowing husband and children. Mrs. RUFFCORN was greatly loved by all who knew her. She was a kind neighbor and a warm friend, a loving wife and mother. In her death one more home has lost the beneficent influence of a Christian mother. The following was handed us for publication: Rebecca PROUDFIT was born in Ashland Co., Ohio, May 17th, 1826; died at Weldon, Iowa, Dec. 3d, 1893; having lived sixty-seven years, six months and 17 days. She leaves a husband, three children and two step children to mourn their great loss of such a devoted wife and loving mother. She was converted and united with the M. E. church in her 16th year, and has lived a truly Christian life for over 52 years. In her last sickness she several times gave testimony of being ready to meet her Savior and her God, carefully giving each of her family instructions to meet her in Heaven. Having lived and in dying giving testimony that there is a reality in the religion of Jesus Christ. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church of Weldon at 2 o'clock p.m. Monday, Dec. 4th, and were conducted by Rev. SMITH, pastor of the church. Robert BEER, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Garden Grove, an old acquaintance and friend of the family, preaching the sermon to a large congregation.
